It’s that time again — time to reserve a table or take-and-heat for Thanksgiving ASAP to avoid disappointment later.
Some restaurants will be open for Thanksgiving on Nov. 25 for dining and hot takeout, and some, including caterers, are offering takeout meals in advance to heat at home. A few will have takeout on the holiday. Read on:
Alioto’s Restaurant — Dine in or carry out, but both must be reserved by phone. Dinner, served 11:30 a.m.-4 p.m., includes turkey ($26), 10-ounce filet ($39) and grilled shrimp ($28) that come with soup or salad, potato and dessert. Aria — Thanksgiving dinner will be served from noon to 6 p.m. on the holiday. The fixed-price menu includes bourbon-barrel smoked turkey, filet or salmon, mushroom-squash dressing, pumpkin cheesecake and other items; dinner is $49, or $15 for children 3 to 10 years old. 139 E. Brute Pizza — Selling its build-your-own parbaked sourdough pizzas for pickup the day before Thanksgiving from noon to 8 p.m. to finish at home. (Also open for limited dine-in, delivery and takeout with curbside pickup available on Nov. 24, closed on Thanksgiving. The counter-service Brute normally is open Thursday-Sunday.) Diamond Jim’s Steakhouse — Dine in or carry out. Open from 1 to 7 p.m. on the holiday with turkey or ham dinners ($23.95, children 10 and younger $10.95) that include pumpkin pie, and some regular menu items. Takeout meals are ready to eat. Fire Pit Sports Bar & Grill — The Potawatomi Hotel & Casino sports bar will have a takeout-only Thanksgiving special that’s ready to eat from 11 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. or until sold out on Nov. 24 and Thanksgiving. The dinner ($25, plus 15% tip) includes potato leek soup, sliced turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, stuffing, green bean casserole, cranberry sauce, dinner roll and butter, and pumpkin pie. Goodkind — Reserve a five-course take-and-heat meal for two ($90) starting Nov. 1, until it sells out: Amish organic rotisserie turkey breast with seasonal side dishes that incorporate summer’s preserves. Additional sides ($10-$25) will be available, as will wines, appetizers and snacks for home or to take to gatherings. Plus, two punch kit options ($30 each, serves two). Matilda Bakehouse — Desserts, pastries and rolls to pick up before the holiday include pies (pumpkin, caramel apple or French silk, each $30), pecan tart ($28), cranberry-orange almond cake ($34, gluten friendly); six-piece breakfast box of chocolate croissants, cinnamon knots and apple danish ($24); and Parmesan herb rolls (nine for $15). Miss Katie’s Diner — Family-style meals for four or more are $25 a person. They include turkey breast, mashed potatoes, gravy, dressing, sweet potatoes, mac and cheese, fresh green beans with bacon and almonds, cranberry-orange relish, rolls and butter. Appetizers (water chestnuts in bacon or cocktail meatballs) and some other entrees, such as barbecued ribs and dark meat turkey, can be ordered. Playing in the Plants — The vegan restaurant group that includes On the Bus and Sugar Cube Donuts is taking orders through Nov. 15 for take-and-heat Thanksgiving meals and a la carte dishes. A family meal serving six to eight (one main, five sides, one dessert and apple cider) is $250; dinner for two (main, five sides, dessert), $60. A la carte includes turkey seitan roast ($52) and squash roast ($38) among mains, green bean casserole ($30) among sides, and gluten-free, vegan pumpkin cheesecake ($42) for dessert. Ruta’s Vibrant Indian Cafe — Take-and-heat options include a meal for four, side dishes for two and dessert for four. The meal: Anglo-Indian shepherd’s pie with cranberry chutney, choice of two sides and apple crumble ($145). Sides ($48) for your own turkey: cumin-coconut green beans, ginger-lemon sweet potatoes, roasted beet and carrot salad, stuffing with curry leaves, plus cranberry chutney. Options include prime rib dinner for two ($100) up to whole prime rib (for nine to 16, $425), with sides such as mushrooms and mashed potatoes. A whole-turkey dinner (for 10 to 20, $250) includes traditional sides and apple and pumpkin pie. Individual turkey dinners with sides are $24.99.
